About Us

Northwest Iowa Corridor Habitat for Humanity was founded on the idea of providing simple affordable homes for those in need. Since our organization was established in 1997, our affiliate has provided ten homes for families in Clay and Dickinson Counties.

Our affiliate is led by a  Board of Directors with equal representation on the Board members from each participating County.  Our Building Project Leader for 2012 is once again, Richard Hildebrand.  Richard has served nine years on the Habitat Board, and has led six of the last builds.

Teams will be identified to take on different aspects of the build such as foundation, roofing, siding, drywall, etc.  Licensed professions will be selected for electrical and plumbing.  Build Teams may represent a church, a business, service club, or another group of 6-12 volunteers.

If you want to organize a building team, here are a few suggestions:

- Select a Team Leader who will recruit 6-12 volunteers

- Arrange for food for breaks and lunch

- Identify one person to be the Safety Manager for the day

- Raise funds to support the building project

That is why we are especially happy to find new volunteers who share our commitment to doing good in the world. Do you want to support us by helping with our work? Then do not hesitate to contact us. A helping hand is always greatly appreciated!

2012 Building Project Leader - Richard Hildebrand

Meet Richard Hildebrand our Building Leader for 2012! Richard has served on the Habitat Board for nine years as well as being leader on four homes.

As a retired educator, Richard brings a wealth of experience to Habitat builds and volunteers.  As a former Vo-Tech teacher in the Spirit Lake High School system, teaching skills to the unskilled comes naturally to Richard.  You will enjoy working with him!
